TIPS
Location: Grand Bahama Island
is located 52 miles east of Palm Beach, Florida. The
Island is 96 miles long and 17 miles across at its widest
point. From the twin resort areas of Freeport &
Lucaya you're always within a few minutes drive of most
points of interest.
English is the native language.
However it is spoken with a playful Bahamian lilt.
The Bahamian dollar is on par
with the US dollar. US currency is widely accepted throughout
the island.
The Bahamas are considered sub-tropical
with temperatures in the high 70's Fahrenheit in the
winter months to temperatures in the mid 80's during
the summer months.
Travel Documents: To enter Grand
Bahama Island, citizens of the US and Canada are required
to show proof of citizenship with either a passport
or a certified copy of their birth certificate and photo
identification.
Departure Tax: Every person except
6 or younger must pay a departure tax upon leaving the
Island. $18 per person at the airport or $15 per person
at the Harbour.
